How We Build Committee Head Tables

Paul Downs has been building tables since 1986. A lot has changed since then. What has not changed is our passion, creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Our process today marries traditional craftsmanship with the most innovative and advanced technologies available. Each unique committee conference table that we build begins as an idea—a solution to a set of intersecting challenges that our client faces. Each design that we suggest to you will be unique, and we have an extensive catalog of techniques and materials from which to draw. The build process is a multiphase collaboration between our sophisticated technologies and the specialist tradespeople who will realize the design.

Custom Table Design and Engineering

Initial Design & Engineering

During this initial phase, we’ll ensure that the size, style, and shape of your committee conference table are ideal for how you will use the table and where it will be located. Our team will not proceed beyond this point until you are completely satisfied with the design and ready to move forward.

Choose Your Wood & Other Materials

Our design engineers will determine which materials are best suited to your committee conference table, and our project managers will send you samples so that you can see them in your space. Once your choices are made, we’ll handpick each material for the specific purposes of your table.

Table Parts and Assembly

Table Parts & Initial Assembly

All parts are made right here in the USA in our modern workshop using a CNC router. We also have a wide variety of other machines to handle hundreds of different manufacturing processes. Once all parts are complete, skilled human hands will assemble them with both a technical and artistic touch.

Finishing, Assembly, & Final Inspection

Once your committee conference table is assembled, it will enter the finishing phase. There are many finishing options available, including paints, stains, dyes, and textures. We will then disassemble and reassemble the table scrutinizing it as we do and creating a record of it through photographs.

Packing and Shipping Process

Packing & Shipping Your Committee Table

We ship tables to our clients all over the world. Our team includes logistics specialists who clean the table parts and prepare them for shipment. Each part is wrapped in ⅛” foam and then encased in cardboard. Those pieces are then put on a custom pallet with steel strapping and a strong outer wall.

Serving Clients Around the Globe

While most of our clients are located in the United States and Canada, we have customers around the world, including South Korea, Panama, and the British Virgin Islands. Our clientele is also very diverse and includes government agencies, courthouses, universities, and tech companies. Wherever you are located and no matter the specific needs of your organization, we can design and build the perfect table for you and ensure that it gets to you in the same beautiful condition in which it left our workshop.
